Is Pocket Phojo Mac Compatible?
The Pocket Phojo solution is a complete self contained standalone system for editing and transmitting photos, it does not require any kind of computer to use. Upgrades to the software can be downloaded from the device itself, or copied to a CompactFlash card and installed from there. Although not essential, if you use a Mac and wish to take advantage of the Pocket PC's built in address book etc., there are 3rd party solutions for synchronizing your contacts, see this review for details.

Is Pocket Phojo software, hardware, or both?
Pocket Phojo is a software application designed to run on a Pocket PC handheld computer. As most photojournalists do not already have a Pocket PC, we are also supplying the "Pocket Phojo Solution", which contains the required software and hardware already installed and ready to use.

Can Pocket Phojo be used with BBS systems such as Telefinder?
Yes, but is requires 3rd party software, please contact as at support@idruna.com for more details.

How fast does Pocket Phojo transmit photos?
The quick answer is as fast as your laptop can. The long answer? Think of the Pocket PC that Phojo runs on as a small laptop computer. Transmission speeds depends entirely on what method you use to connect the Pocket PC to the internet. The Pocket PC cannot do this on it's own, it either needs to be hooked up to your cell phone, or needs some other means such as a plug-in land line modem option, a wireless lan card, or one of the new high speed wireless cards from Verizon for example. In terms of speed, the Pocket PC will not be the slowest link in the chain, your cell phone or modem will be. However, if you time how long it takes Pocket Phojo to start transmitting a photo, to the time it takes your laptop to boot, Pocket Phojo with it's instant-on feature and streamlined user interface will have the photo ready for transmission before your laptop has finished booting.

Can Pocket Phojo be used with a satellite phone?
If the phone is "Hayes Compatible", then yes, simply attach the phone's serial cable to the provided iPAQ serial adaptor cable, and proceed as you would using a regular cell phone. The Regional BGAN works very well via Bluetooth or Ethernet.

Can Pocket Phojo be used with a wireless LAN?
Yes, the high-end Pocket Pcs have WiFi built-in, or there are several 3rd party CompactFlash wireless LAN cards available for Pocket PCs without this feature.

How can you edit on that screen?
The Pocket PC screen is in many ways superior to a laptop's. It is readable outdoors in bright sunlight (try that with your laptop), and is capable of displaying 65,536 different shades of colours. The Pocket Phojo software applies sophisticated gamma correction algorithms to the display so that it matches a standard CRT monitor as closely as possible. Pocket Phojo can display the images at magnifications levels from 1% to 800%, so you can zoom in to see precise detail and check sharpness.

How do you enter the captions?
Pocket Phojo has easy to use store and recall buttons to save having to enter the same information for each photo. For details that change between each image, the Pocket PC operating system has several ways of entering text. The default is an on-screen keyboard, where you can simply tap the letters you need in. The second method is the Letter Recognizer, where you write each letter in the area provided, and the Pocket PC turns this into text. The Block Recognizer works in a similar way, but is designed for people used to entering text on a Palm Pilot. The quickest and most sophisticated method for entering text is called "Transcriber". You simply write your text on the screen, and the Pocket PC turns your own hand writing into text. It really does work! There are also several add-on external keyboards available for the iPAQ, ranging from thumb keyboards to foldable, almost full-size, keyboards. See here for more information (make sure you get the right keyboard for your model iPAQ).

Can the Pocket Phojo software work with other Pocket PCs?
The minimum requirements are a Pocket PC 2002 compatible device, with 64MB of RAM. Pocket Phojo is currently being used on iPAQs, the Toshiba E800 and e740, Dell Axims, the XDA II, Pocket Loox, Asus, etc, but the iPAQs and Toshiba E800s are our favourites. If you will be using a cable to connect your Pocket PC to your cell phone, please make sure one is available first.
